First thing size it does matter. You must measure the area which you would like to use the seating for. I have been selling Bar stools for 17 years now and most people do not have a clue about this. So be aware of this hear is the simple rule. Seating for the most part comes in 3 different heights. Tables use chairs, Counters use Counter stools, Higher than your sink is usually Bar stools. Now for the inches this becomes a confusing point for man people so pay attention. First off understand most bar stools are made to certain standards. You for the most part cannot be any height you want. Chairs which are made for tables which the furniture industry has determined are usually 18-20 inches for the seat. Counter stools are 24-26 inches for the seat. Bar stools are 29-30 inches for the seat. That is it if a company makes their counter stools at 24" and you like the look it will not also come at 26". The same is true for the reverse. Only hydraulic stools which have become very popular allow you to customize your height. Now some manufactures will custom cut your stool but this becomes expensive and again restricts your choice.
